BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — With a 19.3 scoring average, TJ Bell is the leading scorer for a Westwood team which is ranked third in this week’s South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association for class 4A.
TJ is also maintaining a 3.2 grade point average which is due in no small part to his grandmother who is a teacher and makes sure to monitor her grandson’s progress in the classroom.
Westwood head coach Trent Robinson says TJ is the only player on the roster who is in his fourth year on the varsity level and with that experience comes higher expectations in terms of showing his teammates the way to success.
As far as playing at the next level, Bell has been offered by Francis Marion although other schools to jump in and make a play for TJ’s services. TJ plans on majoring in engineering in college but with less than a month less in his basketball career, he hopes to engineer a deep run in the playoffs for Westwood.
