Each time a Five Points staple shut its doors in 2020, the restaurant’s owners started auctioning off some of the decoration inside. That’s how Katie Pearson came to help buy a 900-pound cowboy in a bath tub. The iconic cowboy has been one of the main symbols at Yesterday’s Restaurant and Tavern, the longtime Five Points cafe that closed early on within the pandemic. Now, the milestone statue is over 2, 1000 miles away in a small coffee shop in Wyoming. “(The cowboy) was always such a primary memory of mine. I acquired kind of worried that he might end up, you know, just someplace he wasn’t able to be liked by the general public, like, within someone’s man cave or even something, ” Pearson stated.

Pearson, who is originally through Columbia but grew up within Savannah, Georgia, studied the field of biology at the University of Sc before moving out to Wy six years ago. She was raised going to Yesterday’s with the girl family and remembers the well-known cowboy. Pearson convinced the girl boss at Buffalo Area Cafe to purchase the rancher. Her dad, along with assist from high school football gamers who lived in the community, lifted the cowboy to the bed of his vehicle and made the days-long trip to Wyoming. “I believe it took him 4 days to go across plus, he said everywhere he’d drive, people would honk and wave. And he can have flagged down at gasoline stations with people asking him, ‘Why in the world do you have this huge cowboy in the back of your pickup truck? ‘” Pearson said. WLTX first reported that the rancher had been purchased by Pearson and moved to Wyoming. Yesterday’s had been in the college night life district for over 40 years in order to closed in late April 2020. Its owners closed opportunities when the pandemic hit plus were uncertain of the restaurant’s future. They announced upon social media in late April how the restaurant would permanently close up. The building that housed the particular restaurant has been under design in recent months, although there’s been simply no official announcement on what is going to take its place.
