COLUMBIA, S.C. — The seventh year of the Mark Kingston era will commence Friday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. when the first pitch of the 2024 season is thrown.
South Carolina will host Miami of Ohio in game one of a three-game series at Founders Park with Eli Jones getting the start on the mound for a Carolina team which is coming off a super regional appearance in 2023.
If Kingston’s math is correct, this will mark his 45th Opening Day going back to his days as a youngster who was excited for that first game on the diamond. Now, as a seasoned college coach, the excitement of putting on the uniform for that first game is still there even after a lot of miles have been recorded.
