COLUMBIA, S.C. — Lugoff-Elgin head wrestling coach Ted Monroe made it clear that his team was facing a team which has been the standard for hgih school wrestling.
Eastside came into Saturday’s 4A state championship after having won the previous eight state titles. The Eagles from the Upstate jumped out to a 35-0 advantage on their way to a 62-12 win over the Demons.
The victory marked the 19th state title for the Eastside program which ties Rock Hill for the most ever in South Carolina for high school wrestling.
