A brand new spot welcoming of people of the LGBTQ community plus allies of the community opened in West Columbia final weekend. WE’s on Conference Street, what staff state is the area’s first satisfaction bar, held its fantastic opening March 18 and it is now open seven days per week as a private club. “We have many people that feel convenient coming here because all of us accept like absolutely everyone. Regardless of who you are, from A in order to Z, you are welcome right here and it’s going to be a secure and comfortable environment for everybody, ” general manager Kirby Schneider told the Free of charge Times. The new spot increases the list of the few homosexual bars in the Columbia region. In the Vista, PT’s 1109, a gay bar available to the public since 2001, hosting companies drag shows and has the dance club environment after which there’s the private club, The Capital Club, just in the street. And while PT’s 1109 is popular with a more youthful crowd, allowing patrons eighteen and up to enter, Schneider hopes WE’s will entice an older crowd that may not have to get as interested in the dancing club scene.

The spot will have a fully-stocked liquor bar with 10 beers on tap along with a variety of wines as well as numerous seating areas and swimming pool tables.

Planning for WE’s started in the fall of a year ago, according to Schneider. The bar’s owner, Walking Eagle Burr, decided to take the retirement cash she planned on purchasing a home boat with to buy the particular bar and didn’t appear back. She decided to title the bar after the girl nickname, after some doubt. “Everybody calls her ‘We’. She was real cautious on putting that on the market, but everybody thought it had been cool because I was such as, you know, WE’s on Conference is a place for us. Personally i think like it all kind of progresses together and (it) furthermore plays off of like Western Columbia, ” Schneider stated. Located on Meeting Street within West Columbia, the pub joins a scene that will continues growing on Conference Street. Within the last few years, WECO Bottle and Biergarten, Savage Craft Ale Works plus PRIMAL Gourmet have became available in the area. “I foresee all of us continuing to grow. We’ve made a considerable improvement, but in doing so, it has not changed what makes the city exclusive and that’s what we want to keep as we grow, ” Western Columbia councilman Joseph Dickey said in a previous job interview with the Free Times, regarding new businesses growing in the region.

WE’s will be open 7 days a week and host a number of events including Wednesday evening trivia, karaoke on Thursdays and soon-to-be-announced drag activities. The spot is located at 735 Meeting Street.
