WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — For he first time since its existence, Gray Collegiate Academy will split up the duties of the head football coach and athletics director.
On Tuesday, the War Eagles introduced the two people who will hold down those positions.
Head boys soccer coach Kevin Heise has been named the school’s athletics director. He will continue in his role as the soccer coach of the War Eagles.
De’Angelo Bryant, who has been the head football coach at his alma mater of Silver Bluff, is taking over the War Eagle program. A former assistant football coach at White Knoll, Bryant takes over a program which won the 2021 state championship and last season, finished runner-up to Oceanside Collegiate Academy.
Bryant is the second coach in the history of GCA as he takes over for Adam Holmes who had held down both positions since the origin of the program in 2014.
Gray Collegiate Academy is moving up from Class 2A to 4A as part of the South Carolina High School League reallignment.
