GILBERT, South Carolina — In the coming years, all Lexington One schools will have one person serving as athletics director and one person running the football program.
Chad Leaphart had been holding down both jobs at his alma mater of Gilbert High School before he took a job as the Lexington One athletics director.
On Wednesday, Gilbert formally announced the two people who will be filling those vacancies.
Gilbert graduate Nicole Amick becomes the first woman to serve as an AD in Lexington One. She had been the AD for Gilbert Middle while also serving as head junior varsity volleyball coach and head boys golf coach at Gilbert High. Like Leaphart, Amick is a graduate of Gilbert where she played three sports.
Newberry College graduate and Atlanta native Ozzie Ezume is the new head football coach after working as Gilbert’s offensive line coach while also serving as the head varsity basketball coach. He will be giving up his duties courtside to focus fully on his new assignment of running the Gilbert football program.
