Former USC infielder and longtime radio analyst Tommy Moody has died at the age of 69. Moody was a fixture on local radio station 107.5 The Game.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Gamecock athletics family is mourning the passing of former USC infielder and longtime radio color analyst Tommy Moody.

A broadcaster who was  heard on the flagship of Gamecock athletics, WNKT 107.5 The Game, Moody’s death was announced on social media by his radio colleague Jay Phillips.

A former Gamecock baseball player in the 1970s, Moody had worked as the analyst on radio broadcasts of South Carolina baseball since 2000.  When WNKT 107.5 The Game signed on in November of 2007,  Moody was one of the original broadcasters and his segment “Tommy Trivia” was very popular as his vast knowledge of Gamecock athletics was used to inform and entertain listeners.

Moody previously served as the president of the University of South Carolina Association of Lettermen in 1992. He also served as the USC Athletic Hall of Fame chairman.

His passing generated an outpouring of messages on social media from the likes of USC head baseball coach Mark Kingston, head football coach Shane Beamer and former Gamecock head football coach Will Muschamp.

A graduate of A.C. Flora High School, Moody was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. But his love of baseball and sports was secondary to his love of his family. He is survived by his two daughters and his two grandsons.

Tommy Moody was 69 and passed away in his sleep according to a friend.
