I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent vehicle purchase experience at your location, which has regrettably left me questioning the standards I once associated with your company.After months of research, I narrowed down my selection to three BMW X7s and ultimately chose one which I paid to have shipped to my local CarMax store. While I appreciated the vehicle being brought indoors for inspection due to the rain, the limited space made it difficult to thoroughly examine it. Upon bringing the vehicle home, several concerning issues quickly became apparent:The right-side headlight “angel eyes” were not functioning.Although the Carfax only disclosed an accident on the left side, I discovered damage and poor bodywork on the right side, suggesting non-certified repair work. A loud road noise on the driver’s side led me to discover that the door panel was completely loose and that the door’s locking mechanism was unsecured, with missing bolts. During a heavy rainstorm, the panoramic roof leaked severely, with water entering through the rear seatbelt column and dripping into the third-row cup holder. At that point, it became clear there were too many red flags for a vehicle that had supposedly passed your inspection process. While I appreciate being able to return the vehicle within the 10-day window and the understanding shown by the business office staff, there were additional frustrations: I was not informed until the return was finalized that my cash deposit refund would be issued via a mailed check from the home office. Despite assurances that my refund was being expedited, I was later told by your corporate representative that reimbursements are never issued in fewer than 10–12 days, completely contradicting what I had been told at the store. What is even more concerning is that this same vehicle has since been relisted for sale at your Columbia, South Carolina location for the exact same price, without any mention of the significant issues I reported—including the roof leak and improperly repaired body damage.While I understand that I am not a certified mechanic, these were very apparent issues that should have been identified during your multi-point inspection process. This experience, especially being my third vehicle purchase from CarMax, has left me deeply disappointed. The lack of transparency, inadequate inspection, and frustrating return process have all contributed to a loss of trust.I hope that you take this feedback seriously and use it to reevaluate your inspection protocols and customer service practices. I would also appreciate an acknowledgment of this communication and clarification on how such a vehicle could have passed inspection and be relisted without addressing or disclosing these problems.

I have bought and sold several cars at this CarMax location and they are always great to work with. Very low pressure, straightforward, plenty of options with a lot of good clean vehicles to choose from to match your needs. Employees are consistently professional, friendly, and efficient.
Each time I've sold a car to CarMax, it's quick and easy to get an online offer in less than 5 minutes with no games and when I go into the store, they confirm the price within 15 minutes. I keep my cars in very good condition and CarMax always offers more than any other dealerships. The only way I could get more money for my car is if I want the hassle of selling it myself.
The financing options and warranty have also been great. I recently sold a car (back to CarMax) financed through CarMax and within a few days the finance division automatically sent me a refund check for the remaining balance of my unused warranty remaining. I didn't even need to request it. All areas of this company have been great for me. I will continue using them in the future.

We came in with no appointment on a Thursday morning, shortly before lunch time. We were greeted right as we walked in and
even though we were told we might have to wait a little bit for an associate, we were allowed to walk the lot to look. We weren't out on the lot any longer than 5 minutes before we got a call from our associate, Tee. She was wonderful. Didn't pressure us at all. She worked with us to figure out our budget and what they had on the lot that would work within that budget. She even got our toddler a coloring book and a snack to keep her occupied while we spoke. She worked with us from the beginning of the process until we drove off the lot. We couldn't be happier with how easy Tee made it all. Thank you for helping us find something reliable!

This is my second time purchasing from carmax Columbia and I must say it gets better and better I would give 10 stars if I could! my salesman was Joshua Baez and he made my 2nd carmax experience so easy and fast took less than and hour and i absolutely love my car !! The staff was so friendly offering water and snacks while we were there! if you are looking for a new ride please see him , he’s the best! Thank you again 🙏🏾
