C. — A developer is trying to add 31 new flats in the Kilbourne neighborhood associated with Columbia, but there are problems about what it may bring to the city – and what it could remove. Dangerous traffic, parking problems, and overpopulation are a some of the concerns listed on flyers posted on Overbrook Generate. Jeffrey Scott is the pastor at Calvary Baptist Chapel and is among those with problems. “The infrastructure for the drinking water system won’t hold this. Pipes around here breast all the time in the streets, inch Pastor Scott said. “Additional parking, we get a great deal of overflow parking in our car parking lot. ”Aside from individuals problems, Pastor Scott plus Valerie James, who’s resided in the neighborhood her expereince of living, said the development can erase generations of history. “The house was built with a man named Mr. Raybourne. He was a contractor and had one of the first houses on this little area. His boy and grandson lived for the reason that house, ” James mentioned. Shortly after the last Raybourne died, the developer for the brand new apartments purchased the property. Columbia’s Planning Commission presented the particular proposal this week to destroy the home to build the flats. Scott added that an additional apartment complex could replace the structure of the neighborhood. “You know, keep it where we have been and my goal is to keep it the G-rated community, ” he or she said.
