Task management almost two years in the producing, Gran Sasso Wine Pub, will open the evening associated with Aug. 5. The Venetian-inspired wine club comes from Enzo’s Delicatessen proprietor Joe Cardinale, who opened up the Italian sandwich store right next door in Aug 2020. Cardinale originally got plans to open the wine club at the same time, but the pandemic postponed the process. The two spots sit down side by side in one of the city’s greatest nightlife and entertainment area Five Points, which is reputed for its popularity among university students. Cardinale worked as a cocinero in the kitchen of Jake’s Club and Grill, a reputed establishment in the area that’s reputed for its impressive bar meals.

“Most of the kids that proved helpful for me (at Jake’s) had been from the Northeast, and they simply wanted like a good meal and like chicken cutlets and meatballs, so we would certainly just make it for ourself, ” Cardinale said in the previous interview. “And after that like the other employees associated with Jake’s wanted them and after that customers saw it and we started doing like night time pop ups for Enzo’s and it kind of took off and made it our own thing. “The wine bar is among a few other similar spots which have opened in Columbia recently — from City Resolution, which focuses on Spanish-inspired little plates and sparkling wines, to Lula Drake, the dimly lit wine bar within historic digs — yet it’s one of the first focus on Italian language wine regions.

The darkish walls of the restaurant, combined with ambient lighting plus red and white checkered table cloths on smaller sized square tables, create a good atmosphere that’s intimate within a nightlife district where pubs are often loud and busy.
