‘Avoid the area’: Sunset Chaussee likely shut down for hours within Lexington

Lexington Police said the picture may not be clear until seven p. m. and are recommending drivers to avoid the area. LEXINGTON, S. C. — Visitors in both directions of Sun Boulevard in Lexington continues to be shut down after a major accident, police said on Fri. The crash happened on the Hope Ferry Road intersection around 12: 30 g. m. Police Sgt. Cameron j. Mortenson said. However , the street is still closed due to continuous work by Dominion Power to repair power poles plus lines. Mortenson added that this roadway may not be closed just before 7 p. m. Since 4 p. m., outbound traffic is being detoured on to Mineral Springs Road. Individuals attempting to get back on the primary route will need to take Nutrient Springs to Cromer Street and then continue until they will reach Sunset again. Incoming traffic that needs to continue by means of Lexington should take Corley Mill Road to Northern Lake Drive. Currently, incoming traffic can come into the city as far as the Lexington Pavilion shopping center but can’t move any further. Drivers in this area are now being turned around in the parking great deal. Overall, drivers who need to obtain Lexington are being urged to prevent Sunset Boulevard if possible.
