A battle of the unbeatens, South Carolina and Clemson will square off at Littlejohn Coliseum

6 December 2023

With both the Gamecocks and Tigers sporting 7-0 records, there is a different feel to this year’s clash on the court.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — With one Carolina-Clemson showdown on his resume, South Carolina head basketball coach Lamont Paris is keeping preparations as normal as possible which he feels is the best way to approach a game against a rival.

“I am going to do coach speak here, I normally try to build them the same,” Paris said on Monday.

“It is early in the season. We try to just prepare ourselves the way we do for any other game. I am sure Brad does the same. … It is a lot of fun. The only thing that compares to being in front of your own crowd is being in front of a hostile crowd. That certainly is what it will be when we go up there, particularly given both teams have gotten off to a really good start this year. We are just excited to go up and try to continue to play good basketball.”

Brad Brownell has led Clemson to a 7-0 start to the season and the Tigers have checked into the national rankings. The Tigers are 24th in the Associated Press Top 25 and 20th in the Coaches Poll.

Brownell says he hopes fans who are waiting on the Gator Bowl matchup will come support his team at Littlejohn Coliseum for Wednesday night’s 8:00 p.m. tilt.

A Clemson win would push Brownell’s record against Clemson to 7-6.
