COLUMBIA, S.C. — With a little less than two weeks since winning the SEC Tournament, South Carolina returns to action as it hosts Presbyterian College Friday in the Albany Regional.
Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. and it follows the North Carolina-Michigan State game will tips off at 11:30 a.m.
Carolina will be without leading scorer and AP Second Team All-American Kamilla Cardoso who will miss the NCAA Tournament opener. She is suspended for the PC game after her fourth quarter ejection for shoving LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson to the floor after Johnson had pushed Ashlyn Watkins. That skirmish saw a total of five players from the two teams ejected from the LSU game for leaving the bench.
That means Watkins, the Cardinal Newman grad, will once again step into a starting role for the Gamecocks. Watkins scored 10 points off the bench back in December when the Gamecocks defeated Presbyterian College 99-29.
