The USC receiver has been honored by the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame with an award that goes to the top college football player with ties to the state.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame has named South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette winner of the 2023 Blanchard-Rogers Trophy.

The Blanchard-Rogers Trophy honors South Carolina’s most outstanding college football player with ties to the Palmetto State. A year ago, Dutch Fork graduate Jalin Hyatt won the award after a stellar junior season at Tennessee.

A fifth-year senior receiver from Mullins, Legette finished this past season with 71 receptions for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns. The 1,255 receiving yards in a single-season was the second-highest number (Alshon Jeffrey/2010/1,517 yards) in Gamecock program history. Legette was named All-SEC and has received invitations to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine.

The Blanchard-Rogers Trophy is named after Heisman Trophy winners Felix “Doc” Blanchard (McColl, S.C./Army/1945) and George Rogers (South Carolina/1980).

The collegiate player of the year award has been given out by the SCFHOF annually since the 2013 season and is commonly referred to as “South Carolina’s Heisman Trophy”.
