ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Chennis Berry era at South Carolina State is underway.
On Tuesday, Berry was introduced as the new head coach of the Bulldogs. He comes to Orangeburg after four seasons at Benedict College where the past two seasons saw Benedict win a combined 22 games with a pair of SIAC titles.
He takes over for Buddy Pough who retired at the end of the 2023 season as the program’s all-time winningest coach. Pough has been serving as the interim athletics director for the school and it was Pough who introduced Berry at the news conference.
