COLUMBIA, S.C. — The weather was ideal as George Rogers hosted his 32nd annual charity golf tournament which benefits his foundation.
The George Rogers Foundation raises money to help first generation college students meet the financial obligations of higher learning.
George is a first generation college graduate and created his foundation to provide the same opportunity for others in the South Carolina community.
Thursday’s tournament brought out some familiar names including South Carolina head football coach Shane Beamer who did not play but did welcome the golfers to the Spur at Northwoods and thanked them for supporting George’s tournament.
Former teammates and classmates of Rogers were in the field as was Hall of Famer and former NBA great Alex English.
