Significant Weather Events for November 2022…
November 10th – 12th…Tropical Storm Nicole was the most impactful
event during the month of November. Nicole came ashore along the
east coast of Florida near Cape Canaveral during the early morning
hours of the 10th. Nicole continued westward across the Florida
Peninsula and then briefly off the coast by the afternoon and
evening hours of the 10th before turning northward into southwest
Georgia. Nicole produced breezy and gusty conditions across the
Midlands and Central Savannah River Area on the afternoon of 10th
into the 11th. North of Nicole a strong area of high pressure
produced a strong pressure gradient leading to gusty winds well
north of the center of the storm.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches across the area along with wind
gusts from 30 to 40 mph were common.

…La Nina Advisory…
La Nina is present. The equatorial sea surface temperatures are
below average across much of the Pacific Ocean. The tropical Pacific
atmosphere is consistent with La Nina. There is a 76 percent chance
of La Nina during the Northern Hemisphere winter (December-February)
2022-23, with a transition to ENSO-neutral favored in February-April
2023 (57 percent chance).
