C. — The town of Columbia Solid Waste materials Management announced a new strategy to getting rid of nature’s litter : specifically leaves. “Every 12 months what we go through what’s known as leaf season basically all of the leaves are on the ground and get behind in selections just because there’s so much more materials out, ” Samantha Yager, superintendent of waste administration, said. Instead of waiting for garbage collection to go around plus grab these extra hand bags, residents can take them to the drop-off site themselves. The objective of the program is to get rid of additional trash on Columbia community streets and help with checking up on loads of trash each week. “This year, we’re adding a brand new optional service to our curbside service and we have brand new roll-off containers that we are usually locating at five in our parks locations, ” Yager said. The following are drop-off places for the week of November. 11: Hyatt Park, 950 Jackson Ave. Mays Recreation area, 4100 Trenholm Rd. Wood land Park, 6500 Olde Dark night Pkwy. Rosewood Park, 901 S. Holly St . Hampton Park, 1117 Brandon Ave. Those locations will change every week in the program’s trial time period. One Columbia resident mentioned he usually doesn’t handbag his leaves after raking. “Usually, we have woods within the back and I usually take of these u[p in there plus let it compost up presently there, ” Scott Mickey mentioned.
