COLUMBIA — The Middletons, the wealthy Columbia family accountable for reshaping much of Main Street’s dining scene, are growing their restaurant reach straight into Chapin. The family plans to spread out 518 Smokehouse, a bbq restaurant near downtown Chapin, in the spring of 2023. “It all began from the college camaraderie at Winthrop’s campus, a group of friends residing together at the ole’ university house on 518 Smokehouse Lane bonded forever more than beer & good bbq, ” reads the restaurant’s website, which teases the particular opening with a “Coming Soon” message. The restaurant’s precise location remains unclear, yet a spokesperson for the eating place group said it’s started open in the downtown Chapin area, about 25 kilometers northwest of Columbia within Lexington County. The new eating place represents a first for the family members — becoming the only eating place they own outside of Columbia’s downtown. On Main Road, the family — Scott Middleton and his children, Greg plus Sara — own progressively more establishments. Those include the The particular Grand on Main, a mixture bowling alley, restaurant plus bar; and Main Program, a multi-use building that will hosts a forthcoming hibachi restaurant, a pour-your-own faucet wall with 75 ales, a piano bar by having an American food lunch menus, Top Golf virtual simulators and a members-only upstairs golf club.
