COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Gamecocks are headed back to the Final Four after a dominant win over Creighton in the Greensboro Regional Final.
Led by a suffocating defense, USC (33-2) raced out to an early lead and padded that along the way to cruise 80-50 Sunday night in Greensboro.
The Blue Jays, a 10 seed, had scored several upsets to get this far in the tournament. But the Gamecocks were just too physical and too talented for Creighton, showing once again why they were the number one seed in this tournament.
South Carolina is going to its second consecutive Final Four and fourth overall in program history. All of those appearances have come in the last seven years under Head Coach Dawn Staley.
This year’s Final Four will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
USC is seeking its second national title in program history. The other was back in 2017.
This is a developing story. We will have more coverage to come.
